Reflection (CLS_UAS_Semester 6)



        This application is for the daily examination. The topic is 2D shapes for 5th grade. The prior knowledge of students is student know about characteristic of each 2D shapes (square, rectangle, kite, rhombus, parallelogram, etc.). I want to assess the understanding of students on concept and application of 2D shapes. I also want to know the students evaluation and creation.
In the conducting this assessment, I consider about the prior knowledge, the daily life of students, and students’ interest. I use a blank comic on first question because I imagine that my students like the pictorial book. I think it is interesting. They can choose some 2D shapes that they understood. Then, they make their comic by self. I can assess the students’ understanding of concept. They can explore their capability or skills. It does not only increase the students’ concept but also the students’ creativity.
Number two, I use the comparing question. It means that the students do not only know the material and identify the shape, but also they can explore the shapes deeply.
Number three, those are True or False questions. I relate it with the real life example because I want students to evaluate the shape in their life. They learn something that it is on daily life. So, it can make a motivation for students. They learn the material that is important.
Number four, I think the students can create something from the pattern. They can explore it by self. They can choose shapes suitable with their interest. I think it is high order thinking because they create the new shapes. The addition question on number 4 is open ended question. From the answer of students, I want to know their strategies to solve the problem that they choose. It can be a reflection of students.
I think all of this worksheets, I use Costa’s Level of Questioning. Number one until number four is increasing level. From low order thinking (identifying, mentioning, remembering, etc.) until high order thinking (evaluating and creating) are found in the worksheet. This question also consists of close ended question.
The special of the worksheet does not only assess the students’ concept, but also learn about affective skill. I give bold on the affective skill in each question. I also add the picture, colorful worksheet, because this is still elementary school and I consider about the students’ characteristic.
Then, I make the simple instruction on each question. I also make it be word problem. It can help students to increase the critical skills. I add hint on some questions, it can help students to solve the questions. It is simple but easy to understand.
The last, I find this idea from my research of Seminar about the comic. Then, the meeting in CLS course, we ever learn about worksheet “the blank comic”. I think that is very interesting. So, I hope, this worksheet can used in the real classroom. I am so happy in this course.   
